Who we are

Al Baker with some of the first kids of Casa Hogar

Casa Hogar Benito Juárez A.C. is a children’s home in Oaxaca, Mexico. Our first location was founded by Al Baker, a quadriplegic man from Irving, Texas, in 1974, who had a big vision from God. His vision was to care for and help the children of Oaxaca, but most importantly, to share the love of God.

We are a children’s home that cares for children of all ages, and we care for many children with special needs or disabilities. Many of the kids who grow up at Casa Hogar have single parents or are orphaned. Almost all of the kids here have come from indigenous villages in the mountains of Oaxaca, where there is little to no access to education. Here at Casa Hogar, they receive an education, are in a safe and loving environment, receive food and all other basic necessities, and learn about the Lord’s love for them.
